A bright, lifted and slightly high toned blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah, the 2011 Vacqueyras Fruit Sauvage offers light plum, mint and violets to go with a juicy, fresh profile on the palate. While it’s good, it lacks a touch of integration and charm, and I recommend drinking bottles over the coming couple of years. 86 Parker Points.
Bright violet. Spice-accented cherry pit and blackberry on the perfumed nose and in the mouth. Shows gentle sweetness and spicy lift, picking up a hint of olive with air. Dusty tannins shape the finish, which hangs on with good tenacity. 88 points.
