About the event
To celebrate the Clos de Caveau’s 50th harvest, artisan-winemaker Henri Bungener invites you to his table for an intimate meal sharing his family recipes and memories of the Clos over the past half century.
Guided through the domaine’s wines by Henri’s unique storytelling and his passionate Provençal cooking, our 50th Vendange banquet will feature a wine pairing including bottles from Henri’s personal collection, such as the 2003 Carmin Brillant, as well as the very first bottles of our 50th birthday sparkling rosé cuvée.
Honouring the terroir-driven cuvées Henri has crafted over the past decades, each dish at this anniversary banquet has a story to tell about a place, its terroir and local Provençal ingredients.
Henri, Winemaker
Born to French-Swiss parents who had travelled the world, Henri spent many years in London practising as a psychoanalyst before taking over the management of his family’s domaine in 1994. A new patient awaited him: the Clos de Caveau vineyard, acquired by his father in 1976 and cultivated without pesticides or chemical products since 1980.
An inimitable host, Henri was first inspired by the home cooking of his grandmother, from Nice. A teenaged Henri learnt to cook in her Provençal kitchen, the recipes from which he continues to share with friends and family from around the world at the Clos table. Of all of her dishes, from daube to bouillabaisse, her strawberry jam remains his favourite memory.
Places at the dinner are limited to 30. Guests are invited to a detailed tasting at 6pm in advance of the dinner (7pm). Your ticket includes the tasting, a welcome aperitif and amuse-bouches followed by the dinner in three courses with Clos de Caveau wine pairings.
Please note, our menu is set in advance, and we cannot guarantee substitutions for dietary restrictions. Meat and vegetarian dishes will be served. For any further details, allergen information, or transport and accommodation queries, do not hesitate to get in touch with harry@closdecaveau.com
